Welcome to the third of our Pride March 2017 highlights, exclusive to JOY podcast. In this package, JOY presenters Macca and Tass speak to Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton ahead of the team marching in their 16th Melbourne Pride March. The commissioner has marched in several pride march days himself over the years to support the LGBTIQ community of Victoria. The team reflect on the moment in time when former Police Commissioner Christine Nixon (23 April 2001 to 27 February 2009) marched for the first time, as well as discussing the preparation the force were putting in ahead of their march for 2017. The commissioner also pushed the point of the importance of the march in representing their members and staff who are of the LGBTIQ community.

The interview took place just hours before the March kicked off at 2pm with JOY commentary from your favorite presenters.
