Floats, Floats, Cher and more Floats… Our JOY Coverage of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade – Part 1

Thanks to SBS and Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, this is the JOY live commentary of the 2018 40th Anniversary Mardi Gras Parade. In this first part you can hear all the fun and fabulousness of the parade including the Dykes on Bikes and Boys on Bikes that opened the parade, the First Nations float which led the parade, the 78ers, the Equality float, Cher on the Qantas float and many, many more of the 200 floats that made up the parade.

Our ON AIR broadcast team consisted of Benjamin Norris from Word for Word, Dean Arcuri from The Informer and Mad Wednesdays drive show, Lisa Daniel & Dee Mason from the Dano & Mason drive show and our wonderful street team was Harry & Hunter from JOY’s breakfast show – The Tag Team. And they were ably supported by our many other volunteers both in Melbourne and Sydney who helped out with the broadcast. YAYYYYY for all our JOY volunteers!

SO, if you missed the live coverage you can listen to Part 1 here, stay tuned for Part 2 which is coming soon and then watch the Parade again tonight on SBS.

HAPPY MARDI GRAS 2018 from JOY 94.9!
