Edith Hill: TikTok

TikTok was banned in the US! For like a day…

People in the US were using that last day to share “secrets” with their followers. Mainly, this involved telling on themselves about times they lied during their content. For example, a huge food influencer (famous for being a tiny woman who eats large amounts of food) admitted she didn’t eat all the meals she said she did.

Likewise, fitness influencers came out about lying about work outs/morning routines.

People in the US have been making videos sharing how their TikTok experience has changed since the ban and reversal. For example, their recommendations seem different, certain terms are no longer searching, video suggestions are wrong/off. Curious stuff! All speculation at this stage though!

Guest: Dr Edith Hill, Associate Lecturer, Learning and Teaching Innovation at Flinders University

Presenter: Warren Andrew
