Professor Paula Gerber: Tasmanian Homosexuality Compensation

It was not until 1997 that Tasmania decriminalised homosexuality, and until 2000, it was the only Australian state where cross-dressing was still illegal.

Now, a new proposal could see individuals convicted under these unjust laws receive financial redress of up to $75,000.

This move has been welcomed by LGBTQIA+ advocates, including Professor Paula Gerber, who provided evidence to the inquiry.

She explains the significance of this recommendation and what it could mean for justice in Australia.

Guest: Professor Paula Gerber from Monash University

Presenter: Warren Andrew
