Italy reconsiders

First the news.
Italian public broadcaster RAI has confirmed that Nina Zilli will sing “L’Amore È Femmina” (Love is female) on May 26th in Baku.
Ms Zilli had been selected as Italy’s representative at Festival Di Sanremo in February.

Now here’s the thing.
This song is, according to some quick research, was released on 15th February 2012 and is the title track of Ms Zilli’s latest album.
Should we be diving for the rule books ?
Or should Engelbert Humperdinck be dusting off “Release Me” ?
While we adjourn to smoke-filled rooms to consider these fraught questions, here’s the song deemed not good enough to represent Italy in 2012.
