Irish hearts beat for Copenhagen

National Finals, News

kasey-smith-ireland 2014Ireland has just decided on their entry for Copenhagen, with Can-linn featuring Kasey Smith winning Eurosong with Heartbeat. The group was mentored by Hazel Kaneswaran, an Irish singer and TV personality who shot to fame after appearing on the Irish version of Popstars. Kaneswaran also wrote the track for the group.

As has happened in the past, the final was decided on a special edition of The Late Late Show. After all the regional juries had shared their points, two songs were still in the running: the winning Heartbeat, and the song from 2008 X Factor winner, Eoghan Quigg. With the votes of the televote added, commotion erupted in the studio when the two songs were shown on-screen to have tied at 99 points. After the auditor stepped in, it was revealed that there was a graphical error and Heartbeat had won outright.

Here’s Eoghan Quigg’s second-place song, The Movie Song. Which do you prefer? Share on Facebook or Twitter!
