Scoring 288 points, more than Loreen scored when she won Melfest (and Eurovision) in 2012, Måns Zelmerlöw was the winner of the Swedish ticket to Vienna. His song, Heroes, was awarded top points by nine of the eleven international juries and top points by the public.

Zelmerlöw went into the final being the favourite to win, however his big win was a surprise to most observers. The win was close to assured after the end of the juries’ votes, with Heroes being well ahead of Mariette’s Don’t Stop Believing in second place and Jon Henrik Fjällgren with Jag är fri (Manne Liem Frije) in third place.

With the public televote giving Zelmerlöw top points, and awarding Jon Henrik Fjällgren second and Hasse Andersson’s Guld och gröna skogar third, the end result was clear.

Australia’s JTR ended up in tenth place with 25 points and fan-favourite, Eric Saade, came a disappointing fifth.
Heroes was co-written by Joy and Linnea Deb, the same people who wrote Robin Stjernberg’s You in 2013.
