Running to Hungary
Hungary’s national selection A Dal has finally come to a close, with András Kállay-Saunders collecting a ticket to Copenhagen.
His song, Running, won the competition after being selected as the jury’s favourite and then again by the public in the Top 4 Superfinal. After being born in the USA, Kállay-Saunders visited his grandmother in Hungary in 2011 and decided to enter Megasztár while he was there. He came fourth in the competition, was signed to Universal, and decided to stay. He entered A Dal last year, and while his entry was the jury’s pick, it couldn’t beat ByeAlex’s major public appeal. Talking about the song’s abuse theme, the singer reminded fans that, “[his] song may not be the most pleasant topic, but we must face the truth. It happens everywhere in the world everyday.”
Running may have come first, but Bogi came second with We All. Two very different songs, two different messages – which do you prefer?
