Swedes send Sanna to Copenhagen
Sweden’s annual festival of musical campness is over for another year, with a ballad taking top spot.
Sanna Nielsen‘s song Undo has won Melodifestivalen by 2 points in Stockholm today. The 29 year old singer had taken part in Melodifestivalen six times before getting this year’s win. Previously, second place was her best result in the competition.
Nielsen had been the favourite to win the contest, but she was obviously taken aback with the result. “I’m shocked, I’m really shocked but happy of course,” she told comedian Clara Henry after the show.
Undo was the public’s favourite, winning 122 points out of the available 473 points, but it wasn’t the international jury’s favourite. That gong went to Busy Doin’ Nothin’ by Ace Wilder, getting her second place after the public vote was added.
And disco-ball fave, Alcazar, came third with their comeback track Blame It On The Disco.
