Malta: From wonders to chameleons, it’s Ira to Stockholm
Between three hours of ads for a travel agent, retirement fund and a gazillion brands of snack food, Malta took time to select their entry for Stockholm.

Ira Losco, the woman who represented the island nation in 2002 with 7th Wonder, won this year’s Malta Eurovision Song Contest with Chameleon (Invincible).
The 34-year-old singer won the public televote and had the support of the crowd that had gathered at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Even with the audience chanting Ira’s name throughout the voting sequence, it ended up being a close race at times, with Brooke’s Golden taking the lead for a moment.
In the end, Losco won convincingly after the five jury members revealed their scores.
Last year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest winner, Destiny, took the stage at the interval to perform some soul staples. Last year’s Maltese entrant, Amber, offered some dark tracks from her new album too.
Can Ira follow in Destiny’s footsteps and do better than her second place in 2002?
