Having Australians at Eurovision isn’t a recent thing. The casual observer might think it all started in 2015 with Guy Sebastian, others might say Jess Mauboy’s performance in 2014 was our debut, while those with longer memories suggest SBS’s first broadcast of the Contest in 1983 as the start of our affinity with Eurovision.
But it goes further back than that.
What have Australians been doing at Eurovision? Michael, Mark and Brett take time to ponder that question, along with Australian Jonathan Duffy, who headed Iceland’s creative decisions in this year’s contest.
