It’s 1994. JOY’s first year in operation as a part time radio licence aspirant on the 90.7 fm frequency. Our community were still suffering from the ravages of HIV and treatments were in their infancy. Health information for gay men in Melbourne was a core part of our mission, as was hopefully bringing a little JOY to those in our community feeling a little lost. How better to do that than with a playlist of underground gay disco classics. A top 10 dance hit in the USA, 10 years earlier in 1984, a JOY classic to this day, Sheryl Lee Ralph with In the Evening only on JOY!
