It’s 1999. While still not a full time broadcaster JOY starts to be recognised as a taste maker in Australian music circles thanks in no small part to life member, long time presenter and longest serving music director, Damian Nicholas. ARIA award winning producer Andy Van has started up Vicious Vinyl records and in the previous year teamed with singer Cheyne Coates who he met in a night club. Andy personally hand-delivers a single to Damian. Becoming a world wide smash hit, Madison Avenue’s Don’t Call Me Baby has it’s very first radio airplay on JOY!
