Maree Clarke
This Lefty Pinkoes podacast features gentle ‘lovee’ Maree Clarke, an artist whose work is dedicated to celebrating, maintaining and reviving traditional Aboriginal cultural practices, jewlery and ceremonial dress.
Hailing from Mildura, Maree gives us insight into how she researches the ancient traditions she represents, the materials she uses and the roadkill she honours; we say honour as it all fits in with her vegan diet and ethics.
To access her work, we wholeheartedly encourage you to head down to Bunjilaka in the Melbourne Museum to see her ‘kopi cap’ installation that relates to mourning rituals from the northern parts of the Murray River region.
We dedicate this podcast to Maree’s new hunter husband Nicholas.
