This week we saw the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. For most of us, the only monarch we have known. Whether you are a fan of the monarchy or not, you cant deny that her long stewardship has shaped our history and indelibly stamped our culture and collective consciousness. This includes the annual Royal Variety shows, the Galas and Jubilee concerts, which have showcased the evolution of musical forms and tastes over nearly three quarters of a century. In this week’s show we pay tribute, by sharing songs from the 1970s by artists who have been called to perform for the Queen at some point during her reign.
