Fresh off his brilliant, high energy live show at Splendour In The Grass, NT’s Baker Boy is making a name for himself in 2018! Black Magic is his new single, following on from the very funky ‘Mr La Di Da Di’ and then ‘Cloud 9’ (featuring Kian) which was named NT song of the year, as well making the Triple J Hottest 100 along with ‘Marryuna’ (featuring Yirrmal). Now, Black Magic is proving to be a crowd favourite taking things to next level with a fierce chorus and brutal guitars. Baker Boy drops bars in both English and Yolngu Mata language with such power. This completely electric tune DEMANDS your attention!

Black Magic is an anthem for being proud of your heritage in the face of adversity. Baker Boy has stated the inspiration for Black Magic came from his sporting heroes, especially AFL star Nicky Winmar who took a stand against some horrendous racial abuse from some Collingwood Supporters in the 1993 St Kilda VS. Collingwood Match.

Born in Darwin, Baker Boy grew up in the Arnhem Land communities of Millingimbi and Maningrida, studied performing arts at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in Brisbane so he is also an actor and dancer. He is also a part of numerous Indigenous Hip Hop Projects which are known for their work with students in remote communities.

He was the supporting act for 50 Cent at the start of this year, along with A. B. Original so I am very excited to see the future ahead of them.
