‘I don’t care who you think I am, I know who I am.’
AJA has kicked off their world tour of their new album Box Office in Australia, and caught up with Dean from MAD Wednesday in this special interview after their Sydney & Melbourne shows; to talk about the album, their art form, and stripping away the trappings of reality tv to show the world the queer artist they are.
‘I’m not afraid to say that, as a queer person I deserve more, and it’s not just me, we all deserve more.’
Touring Australia with one night only live performances featuring Aja’s 15 track album; their never been seen before show is bound to be remembered for its originality, its authenticity and the empowering nature of an inspiring artist that is breaking the mould by simply being them self.
‘Queer people are more than just a laughing stock for heterosexual entertainment.’
Just days before hitting our shores with this tour, the non-binary queer artist and performer expressed on their instagram that they will no longer be talking about RuPaul’s Drag Race, the reality tv franchise that made them a global name.
Instead, the drag artist who is bringing their unique queer flavour into the masc-dominated world of hip-hop, is uplifting fans and empowering them to be in control of their own destiny, just as they are.
