Northside Bizarre was formed in 2011 in a partnership between The Laird, Victorian AIDS Council and JOY 94.9 with the aim of raising funds for David Williams Fund (VAC) and JOY 94.9. Since then the event has evolved to become a much-loved annual event on Melbourne’s LGBTI calendar.
Brett Lasham from The Laird joined Michael and Dean for MAD Wednesday to spill the beens on this years Northside Bizarre and how you can get involved or donate items for the auction.
While running solely out of the The Laird for its first 4 years, 2015 saw the Northside Bizarre expand to include the neighbouring Collingwood Masonic Hall and Henry Street between the two venues with 2016 delivering once again with 1300+ people in attendance.
The event offers an opportunity outside of the typically summer festival season for the LGBTI community to come together while also supporting two of the largest organisations serving the local gender, sex, and sexually diverse community – JOY 94.9 and VAC.
Between the three major event partners, the portfolio of event expertise spans three decades – delivering events celebrating the LGBTI community while also supporting their ongoing health and wellbeing.
