I’m With Her; Les Thomas – Show #86 (part 2), 18 November 2018

Music

Local singer-songwriter and activist Les Thomas performs a beautiful song he has written for the late Sisto Malaspina of Pellegrini’s, and Katie talks on the phone to Sarah Jarosz, one of the three members of US folk-bluegrass ‘supergroup’ I’m With Her. She, Sara Watkins and Aoife O’Donovan have been performing together since 2015, and released their debut album, See You Around, in early 2018. Sarah Jarosz is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter from Texas, now based in New York; Sara Watkins is a founding member of the hugely popular bluegrass group Nickel Creek; and Aoife O’Donovan is the lead singer of bluegrass-string band Crooked Still. I’m With Her are coming to Australia in April 2019 for the 30th Byron Bay Bluesfest and a couple of shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Here is the playlist:

  • Cold – The Northern Folk
  • Goodbye Sisto – Les Thomas (live in the studio)
  • Marrow – Jealous of the Birds
  • See You Around – I’m With Her
  • Recovery – LP
  • I-89 – I’m With Her
  • Mercy – Bootleg Rascal
