NAIDOC Week 2023 – Show #286 (part 1), 9 July 2023

Australia’s annual NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Katie marks it every year with an hour of music by First Nations artists. This year’s songs have all been released in 2023, and include tales of home, culture, change, discrimination, liberation and language. Here is the playlist:

  • Return Home – Bumpy
  • It’s Gotta Start Somewhere – Nathan May
  • Same Train – Sue Ray
  • Story – Dan Sultan
  • King of Disappointment – Jem Cassar-Daley
  • Hammock – Pirritu
  • Take No More – Kee’ahn, Emma Donovan, Archie Roach Foundation
  • Fly Like a Bird – Sunny Luwe
  • Mother Tongue – Kutcha Edwards
  • Where I Wanna Be – Busby Marou
