Katie has a really fun chat with self-described ‘chaotic hugger’ Marieke Hardy, the artistic director of the 2018 Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF), about books and tattoos and animals and shyness and heaps more. Marieke says that her aim as MWF artistic director – as it was with her very successful project Women of Letters – is to create spaces for catharsis and empathy, and to make things that are meaningful and kind. A particular focus of the discussion is the many MWF events that will feature music, especially the ‘Duets’ stream, which pairs emerging musicians with established musicians to talk about songwriting. Here is the playlist, which includes some of the artists appearing at MWF:
- Waiting – KIAN
- Running – Ryan Downey
- Sonnet 18 – Paul Kelly
- Native Tongue – Mojo Juju
