Katie’s guest in the second hour of the show is Xani Kolac, Melbourne singer-songwriter, violinist and exuberant human. The conversation covers Xani’s new album of improvised violin music, Three, and the upcoming Stand By Your Woman concert at Hamer Hall in Melbourne. Xani dreamed up Stand By Your Woman in 2017 to give visibility to the women who power every part of the Australian music industry but are not often acknowledged. This year’s concert is on 16 September and features a fourteen-member all-female house band called the SPIRE Ensemble. They will back a carefully curated line-up of special guest artists, including Kate Ceberano, Clare Bowditch, Tripod, Mojo Juju and Thando. Here is the playlist:
- Sista Girl – Oetha
- Jerusalem Artichoke – Xani
- Sun White – Xani
- Native Tongue – Mojo Juju
- Calling You – Kate Ceberano
- Numb – Thando ft. Remi
Visit Xani’s official website and follow her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
