Katie’s guest in the second hour of show no.40 is Melbourne singer-songwriter Phia. She has recently released a great new EP called The Woman Who Counted the Stars, and she talks to Katie about the inspiration behind the songs on the EP, whose subject matter includes astronomer Vera Rubin, a scientist who fought adversity in her field and uncovered the first compelling evidence for dark matter. Phia does an exquisite performance of the title track live in the studio using her kalimba and looping pedal. Here is the playlist:
- Heartstrings – Phia
- Don’t Worry Baby – Rachel Fannan
- The Woman Who Counted the Stars – Phia (live in the studio)
- Happiness – Josh the Cat
- Silver & Gold – Phia
- The Birds – Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker
- Let Me Fall – Laura Mvula
- Holding Breath – Merpire
Visit Phia’s official website and follow her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
