Katie’s in-studio guests for the second hour of today’s show are local artists Mandy Connell and Monica Weightman. Mandy talks about growing up with folk music and about her various musical activities, including her 2017 album with Layla Jean and Alysia Manceau under the name The Maggie Darlings. Monica tells us about supporting US singer Rhiannon Giddens in 2016, writing with the late, great Paul Hester, and performing songs about Australian Indigenous experiences. Monica is one of Mandy’s guests in a new series of videos called An Otherwise Quiet Room, which feature Mandy playing and singing with local artists in local Melbourne venues. Here is the playlist:
