One of Australia’s most renowned pianists is about to undertake a musical marathon when he performs in October at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Approximately 35min of unrelenting difficulty will see Simon Tedeschi tackle a mountainous masterpiece, penned in 1874 over just 6 weeks.
Pictures at an Exhibition is a suite in ten movements, with interpolated variations on a Promenade theme, composed for piano by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky.
Simon Tedeschi is performing Pictures at an Exhibition at the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre on Thursday, 8 October. His latest CD is of the same title and is out now on ABC Classics.
