With Christmas 2016 come and gone Lisa and Sue take time to reflect on traditions, crap Kris Kringle presents and the need to employ ice breakers when your Christmas celebrations are hampered by awkward family gatherings and guests.
With temperatures soaring to an extreme 38 degrees in Melbourne, Australia we clung to our traditional English roots and insisted on eating roast chickens, hams, turkeys and of course plum puddings. Secretly we hankered for a salad, some cold meats or perhaps some seafood platters.
Lisa made up for it in the consumption of ice cold beers and the much disputed dessert (between the Australians and the New Zealanders) … Pavlova!
The OWLS ran out of time to talk about New Year’s Eve due to Sue’s insistence of revisiting the rescue chicken story, so tune in next episode when we talk about how we said goodbye to 2016 and welcomed in 2017. There will be stories of parties, tram rides and a wrap up of 2016.
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and welcome to 2017!
As we OWLS love everything Australian we are featuring two very different Ozzie artists to help you mellow out after a huge year.
“How To Make Gravy” by Paul Kelly – Songs From The South – The Best of Paul Kelly (1987)
“Sometimes The Stars” by The Audreys – Sometimes The Stars (2010)
