Get your Cowboy Boots On and Join our Village People Party with Felipe, Jim, Rach, Dene and Jacq

Yes, Felipe Rose (the native American since 1977) and Jim Newman (the cowboy since 2013) from the Village People are on the show, so join the party! YeeHAAA!

They’re in Australia on their 40th anniversary tour and are still performing all their favourite songs and just so you can get your cowboy boots a tappin’ we’ve left the music in this podcast so there’s plenty of original Village People music and a surprise song from one of their best friends.

There’s also over 25 minutes of fun with the guys who were with us for a little over an hour – learn the story behind Felipe’s whistle, hear their views on marriage equality, some Village People history and much, much more.

Recipients of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (6529 Hollywood Blvd between Liberace and Betty Grable!), the one-of-a-kind Village People is synonymous with dance music. Their impact on music has earned them the title “Kings of Disco” and they have sold more than 100 million recordings worldwide. These six talented men combine energetic choreography with outrageous fun and lots of bumping and grinding! Their music provides entertainment for all and will have you singing & dancing!

Village People starred in a semi-autographical major feature film Can’t Stop the Music (still a popular cult classic in Australia) which co-starred Steve Guttenberg, Valerie Perrine, and Bruce Jenner.

In 2017 the VILLAGE PEOPLE are Raymond Simpson (Cop and lead singer), Felipe Rose (Native American), Alexander Briley (GI/Military), Eric Anzalone (Biker), Bill Whitefield (Construction Worker) and Jim Newman (Cowboy).

Over the past few years, Village People have performed a full schedule of concerts, festivals, universities, fairs, and casinos throughout the United States as well as Canada, Brazil, France, South Africa, England, Finland, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Romania, Japan, Mexico, Australia, Poland and much more. The Guinness World Records book certified their Sun Bowl appearance on December 31, 2008 as the world’s largest YMCA dance with over 40,000 fans “doing the YMCA moves” while the group performed.

The Kings of Disco – Village People – are in Australia in May 2017 as part of their 40th Anniversary tour. Special guests will be none other than local pop favourites Björn Again. In true Village People style, this one-of-a-kind group, that still comprises two of its original band members, promise to deliver a smorgasbord of smash hits and get everyone up on their feet. In Melbourne they are performing at the Palais Theatre on 25th May. You can follow them on Facebook  and on Twitter

Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix

Songs in the podcast include Go West, Can’t Stop The Music, Magic Night & The Milk Shake – All by The Village People.
