JOY Law: Can’t wait to get married? How to fast track your nuptials

JOY Law for LGBTI community and rainbow families

Do you need to get married quickly? Can’t wait the month-long waiting period?

Bonnie and Bronwyn talk to Rach, Jacq and Dene about applying to get married (or divorced) quickly.

We chat about:

  • the recent reports in the media of people getting married within the month-long waiting period
  • the process for lodging an intention to marry with Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria
  • how to make an application to get married in less than one month
  • the exceptional circumstances that can be taken into consideration to fast track your wedding, for example health-related concerns or family members travelling from overseas or interstate, and
  • applying to get divorced on an urgent basis so that you can re-marry sooner.

Need urgent legal assistance during the Christmas period?

We also talk about seeking urgent legal assistance during the Christmas and holiday period. This includes:

  • keeping yourself and your children protected against family violence
  • seeking intervention orders, and
  • getting assistance with family and relationship law-related matters.
