CONTENT WARNING!! This podcast contains content about suicide.
Research shows that a disproportionate amount of queer people experience poor mental health, feelings of isolation and suicidality than their heterosexual and cis-gendered peers. This stems from the experiences of discrimination, abuse and prejudice that queer people face every day. On episode 1 of Reality Unplugged we hear from Alex Dalton, a LGBTQIA+ and mental health advocate, and Lola-Mae Pink, who works at Queerspace – an organisation dedicated to upholding the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people. Alex shares his personal experience with mental health and wellbeing, while Lola-Mae provides tips on how young queer people can connect with others in less conventional ways.If the topics discussed in this episode have brought up any negative feelings, know that support is available, at: QLife, Lifeline, Suicide Callback Service, and Kids Helpline
