On Saturday 16 February Saturday Sessions launched a new segment ” Busker’s Corner” designed to showcase the amazing talent of our busking community and the richness they add to the beautiful tapestry of our amazing city.
About a month ago, I heard a voice in the distance when i was leaving the JOY building and I had to go check it out. The voice belonged to Jamal Corrie who was performing a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”. There have been very few buskers that have made me stand completely transfixed by their performance but Jamal was someone different.
A modest young man with an amazing talent, Jamal wowed us with his live version of “The Shallow” and it was an absolute honour to witness someone so talented lose himself in his art the way Jamal did during his performance. It is days like this that make me really appreciate how privileged I am to be an on-air presenter at JOY 94.9
