Pete and Paul were joined by Richard and Israel to chat about there upcoming show “Medea – Kaddish For The Children. Paul and I thoroughly enjoyed having both Richard and Israel in studio to get an understanding of the machinations of recreating a classic to modern times and using dance and choreography as the medium of communication.

Medea: Kaddish for the Children is a re-imagining (and re imaging) of the tale of one of Western literature’s most iconic and tragic figures, Medea, played by Deborah Leiser-Moore.

Drawing on the classic Euripides Medea text, Deborah dispels the predominantly patriarchal view of Medea as a monstrous witch and presents her drama through a contemporary feminist theatrical lens.

Richard Moore, who is known for his directorship of the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Brisbane Film Festival will return to the stage after 20 years. Richard takes on the role of Medea’s male counterpart Jason, who betrays her and is condemned to a machine that never stops.

Israel Aloni is an independent choreographer, guest performer and a dance educator with an extensive and international experience.

As a performer Israel has worked with globally acclaimed choreographers during his years with companies such as GöteborgOperans Danskompani, The Project Company of the Israeli Opera, The Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and other both established and independent companies. Currently he is engaged as a guest performer with Sasha Waltz & Guests in Berlin, Germany.
