Sonja and Alex talk about Italian Horror films, in general Italian Cinema and the Suspiria remake by Luca Guadagnino . Alex explores all those wonderful Giallo movies and more…It’s a Podcast about diversity in the genre, the influences of Italian Cinema on Horror films and of course HER BOOK!
‘Suspiria is one of the most radical horror films that has ever been made, and the precise reason for this is that it is unapologetic in the way it expresses horror and the way it demands the opening up of the viewer to take pleasure in things that they cannot describe.’ – Film theorist and academic Patricia MacCormack .
“I think that horror is, at its best, a kind of choreography about moving bodies and about what limits bodies can be taken to. Argento’s in-joke is that this is a dance film without dancing, but its very intensity – its weirdness, sound, and look – relies upon bodies in motion, but not the kind ballet slippers traditionally imply.”
