This week on Sidelined, Soupy, Demetra and Jacs give a special shout out to everyone involved with the 2022 VicSport Awards supporting diversity and inclusion and sport being for everyone!
In A Chat With Jacs, we’re chatting with Tom Harley, CEO Sydney Swans about the Swans’ commitment to diversity and inclusion with the eighth annual AFL Pride Game on Thursday 8th June at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It promises to be another spectacular show of passionate support for all fans of our great game. And if your AFL Club doesn’t have an AFL Pride Supporter group, Tom provides great advice on how to make it a reality. Make sure to join in the Chant for Pride at three-quarter time! (6:00)
In Demetra’s Drama, Demetra talks with Sebastian Ross, a champion midfielder and a member of the St Kilda Football Club leadership team, to discuss the Club’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community in AFL and what makes playing in Thursday’s AFL Pride match against the Swans so special. (17:50)
In Soupy’s Surprising Sport, this week’s surprising sport is Rock, Paper, Scissors and is there a world championship? You better believe it. And an Association. And a Society. A popular way to resolve a dispute that has stood the test of time way back from Ming-dynasty times! (27:21)
And to close the show, the team cross live to Roland-Garros in Paris to speak to friend of the show Caroline Maes, Tennis sports journalist, who has some breaking news about the French Open and the support for the LGBTIQA+ community! (35:42)
