Well guys, welcome to the second week, second episode of Spoken Word on Joy94.9. -joining us live in the studio with Matthew Richard Walsh and Sarah Yeung from the Cracked Actors Theatre, in Albert park. Tonight we will be discussing the play that is currently running at the CAT, as apart of Midsumma festival.
This show won CAT’s writing competition at Midsumma 2022, 50 Years: Queers & Pioneers where it was selected to be produced by Cracked Actors for Midsumma Festival 2023. The play unflinchingly addresses the ‘elephants in the room’ facing society today like the fact that there is still no HIV vaccine or cure (he has lived with HIV for many years) and that the scourge of meth addiction along with partner violence is not equitably addressed across disparate communities.
Which is actually a topic that was discussed on Saturday Magazine, last week. Domestic violence in the Rainbow community is quite common, but sadly not as talked about as much as it is in heteronormative relationships.
