Film Reviews: Mahana, Wonder Woman, 20th Century Women

David, Brendan and Neil are all in today. Brendan was supposed to see the original Disney animation Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but didn’t get there and saw Mahana (or The Patriarch) instead.  This is set in 1960s rural New Zealand and based on a novel- Bulibasha: King Of The Gypsies-by Witi Ihimaera. Brendan was blown away–5 stars!!

Next review is Wonder Woman which Brendan saw as a ‘breath of fresh air’ with a powerful but nuanced lead character–3.5 to 4 stars.

The last review is 20th Century Women with Annette Bening playing a mother who enlists the help of 2 younger women to help bring up her teenage son in 1979. It is loosely based on writer/director Mike Mills’ life. Brendan LOVED it–5 stars!!
