Arts Centre – Mother’s Day Concert

Two shows only, the Mother’s Day Concert will be presented both as a 2pm matinee and an 5pm concert at Melbourne’s spectacular Hamer Hall.

“This will be a very special concert. The first time I met Patti was just over 30 years ago, when she was singing at a concert with Bert. She was fabulous, and I can’t wait to hear her voice with the 60-piece orchestra,” said John Foreman.

“David is a magnificent performer and an Aussie Pops Orchestra favourite. Harrison is a newer member of the APO family, and our audiences have loved his performances over the last few years,” he added.

Patti Newton said “I’ve been performing for as long as I can remember – it’s something I just love to do. It will be emotional for me, being back on stage, and I know it’d be just wonderful to see all of those beautiful, smiling faces in the audience. As well as being a celebration of mums on Mother’s Day, I’ll also be performing a special tribute to Bert. He always included me in everything, so it seems fitting that we include a tribute to him at the concert. I’m very much looking forward to working with David, Harrison, John and the 60-piece orchestra.”

Australian showbiz legend Patti Newton is one of Australia’s most loved performers with a career spanning over 50 years. Patti began her long and successful career at the age of four including stints with Ch 7, radio and Ch 9’s In Melbourne Tonight. She also appeared regularly with Bert Newton on Good Morning Australia. More recently, she has appeared on Ch 7’s Dancing With The Stars and Ch 9’s Celebrity Apprentice.

For over 40 years, the Aussie Pops Orchestra has presented a unique blend of popular classical and contemporary music to Australian audiences. They have performed alongside many of the world’s favourite singers including Luciano Pavarotti, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Peter Allen, Andrea Bocelli, Dame Joan Sutherland, Sir Cliff Richard, Ray Charles and many more. During the pandemic, the Aussie Pops moved online, with virtual performances attracting hundreds of thousands of views in Australia and around the world; but the musicians are particularly enjoying to returning to the concert platform.
