James Hullick came into Sunday Arts Magazine to talk a bit about his background and involvement with The Amplified Elephants and their upcoming performance of Self Seekers at the Footscray Community Arts Centre as part of the Festival of Live Art. The Amplified Elephants are an ensemble of sound artists with an intellectual disability initiated by the Footscray Community Arts Centre and James Hullick in 2006 who are making sound scapes outside the conventional.
The Amplified Elephants present Self Seekers, a show examining ‘selfie’ culture and the unique ways each person listens to the world around them. It is a multidisciplinary electronic work featuring live video, abstract sound and performance. Details can be obtained at the following website:
