Founded in 1991 by Rowland Thomson, Hares & Hyenas opened in Prahran before having other outlets in Collingwood and Fitzroy. In 1999 Hares & Hyenas consolidated its business back to Prahran. The Business moved to a larger premises in Fitzroy in 2006. In late 2021 Hares &Hyenas moved to their current location, the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda.

Hares & Hyenas is a specialist bookshop which appeals to the LGBTIQA+ community. The shop also appeals to anyone interested in socialising in a literary setting. Even children and teenagers are catered to with the now extensive range of literature relevant to these age groups.

Anyone who is interested in a comprehensive range of literature, flags, badges, future book launches; the list is endless, a visit to this amazing bookstore is an absolute must.

Hares & Hyenas is open 10am – 5pm Monday to Saturday and 11:30am – 5pm Sunday. Shop on line 24 hours.
