About Bloody Time : Should There Be a Review of the Gay Blood Donation Ban?

Health, News & Politics

blood-donationsThe Victorian government wants a ban on gay men donating blood reviewed on the grounds it’s discriminatory. Under the existing rules men who’ve had sex with men in the preceding 12 months are banned from donating blood.

Tonight on The Informer we talk to Rodney Croome from Just.equal about some of the history of this ban and then we’re joined by Dr George Kotsiou, National Donor & Product Safety Specialist from Red Cross Blood Services.

Please donate if you can, listen in if you can’t to see what might happen if the Health Council brings forward a review of this in 2017.
