Midsumma won’t advertise with News Corp in 2017

midsumma

On tonight’s edition of The Informer we spoke with Felicity Marlowe from Rainbow Families Victoria about Midsumma’s recent decision to cease advertising with News Corp for its 2017 festival.

Members of the LGBTI community criticised the festival’s relationship with News Corp last month after a string of articles slamming the Safe Schools program were published by the media organisation.

We also chatted with spokesperson for just.equal Ivan Hinton-Teoh about a new campaign by community advocates pushing for a free vote in parliament. The campaign urges members of the community to email their federal MPs, particularly Liberal and National MPs, and ask them to support ‘plan b’ for marriage equality, a free vote.
