East Timor’s first pride parade and Singapore’s Pink Dot event went well despite challenges

East Timor’s Prime Minister just became the first head of state to publicly support LGBTI rights. In the same week East Timor held its first ever pride parade with hundreds of people turning up to celebrate.

Shannon Power speaks with one of the people instrumental in orchestrating the PM’s statement and organiser of the pride parade, Natalino Gueterres of the Hututan Youth Group.

And on the weekend Singapore also had its annual pride event, Pink Dot. Despite a lot of challenged in the lead up, the event was a massive success and more than 20,000 people attend.

Perin Chow tells us how the team overcame the hurdles which included the government banned foreigners from attending and foreign companies from donating to the event.
