In this episode of The Informer we’re talking Mental Health and Trans Remembrance Day.
We kick off with an interview with Neil Hilborn, a Slam Poet from The US. Neil has become extremely well know for his nuanced way of expressing his own struggles with depression and OCD through poetry. He is gearing up for Australian Tour in December and Dan and Cait wanted to get the scoop on how he found poetry, what excites him about performing and what he’s looking forward to ahead of his Australian Tour.
Next, they talk to Stella Topaz, Project Manager from Q Life. Stella fills the guys in on the mental health issues some of us in the LGBT community face, how we can support those people in Regional Areas that may be feeling isolated and what we can do as individuals and community members to make sure we all stay safe during the holiday period.
Trans Day of Remembrance is an extremely important day for many of us in the LGBT community. In fact, it is becoming increasingly popular in Australia and abroad, particularly in Australia coming off the back of the Postal Survey. Cait and Dan finish off this episode by talking to two people of our diverse Trans Community. Kochava Lelit from Y Gender and Michelle Sheppard from JOY’s Trans POV round off this jam packed episode to talk to the guys about why Trans Day of Remembrance is important, where is the conversation around Trans People headed and how can we as allies best support our Trans Brothers and Sisters
