Birth certificate changes become law and how the pokies closure has saved lives

Victoria’s birth certificate laws changed at midnight. For the first time, people who were born in Victoria or live in Victoria now can change the sex descriptor on their certificate. There’s also an option for people from other states or overseas. We spoke to James Lawson, the registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages about the changes.

Lockdown has meant that pokies, clubs and casinos are closed. It’s meant a huge change for people who have gambling problems. Tim Costello from the Alliance for Gambling Reform spoke to us about what’s happening.
