Pride Centre, pokies and postal survey polls : 12 September 2017

Ruby and Ian breakdown the latest news and current affairs from a LGTBI perspective.

They talk to Jude Munro, Chair of the Victorian Pride Centre, about a new 28 person Community Reference Group that will inform and advise vital decisions as the big idea of the $25million project is translated into reality.

Applications for membership of the Community Reference Group have just opened and will close 22 October 2017.

They report on the latest court case to be considered by the Federal High Court, which will consider if pokie machines are designed to be misleading and deceptive. They question why so little appears to be known about the harm of gambling impacting LGTBI populations.

If you impacted by gambling issues you can contact Gambling Help on 1 800 585 858.

Lastly, they speak to Jessica Elwood, Director of Public Affairs at IPSOS, who has been polling Australian community attitudes towards marriage equality since 2010.

Whilst the most recent polling suggests 70% of people say they will vote in favour when responding to the postal survey, they dig deeper to understand the uncertainties until the actual postal survey responses are actually counted.

What do the polling results mean for effective campaigning toward a YES result?
