The Australian Greens are urging Opposition Leader Bill Shorten to back their push to remove religious exemptions from anti-discrimination laws to protect the rights of LGBTI Australians.
On Tuesday, Greens sexuality spokesperson Senator Robert Simms and gender identity spokesperson Senator Janet Rice announced the Greens’ suite of LGBTI policies, which included the removal of religious exemptions in the Sex Discrimination Act. Senator Simms joins The Informer to discuss the Green’s LGBTI policy.
Todd Fernando, the chairperson of the organising committee for Victoria’s upcoming national retreat for trans and gender diverse Aboriginal people, also joins the program to discuss the retreat, the first of its kind in mainland Australia, which was announced on the same day as International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia earlier this week.
