Philip Ruddock, Melbourne Gay Community Periodic Survey and A More Inclusive Census: 17th January 2018

The review into religious Freedoms in Australia is underway, headed by Phillip Ruddock, who we speak to tonight on the show, so that we can better understand how this process is going to work, and what it means for our communities.

The Melbourne Gay Community Periodic Survey was launched on the weekend by the Victorian AIDS council and is running all week, we find out why this data is so important, and how it plays a part on our national narrative for protection from sexually transmitted diseases.

We also get statistical as we look at the break down of our communities in the 2016 census, as the ABS starts preparing for the next census in 2121. Sure, that may seem a while away, but with formal submissions opening soon, it’s time for us to think about how we want to be better represented, so Australia can get a clearer picture of its rainbow communities.

This episode of The Informer on JOY 94.9 was hosted by Dan Roberts.
