Helden, 1977 single

Dancing in the Streets, 1985 MTV awards

Let’s Dance, 1983 title track

Queen Bitch, 1971 Hunky Dory

China Girl, 1983 Let’s Dance.

Life on Mars, 1971 Hunky Dory.

Under The God by Tin Machine, 1989.

Rebel, Rebel. Request.

Swamp Thing by The Chameleons (UK in the US). 1986 single from their second album, Strange Times.

Aussies – another set of new to me artists/bands!

*Singing in the Shower by Solid Citizens. 1984 track from this ‘lost’ Aussie band.

*Faded Roses by Broderick Smith’s Big Combo. Aussie band active from 1979–1982. This was a 1981 release from their self-titled album from the same year.

*The Beat Goes On by The Globos. The second Globos single produced and arranged by Red Symonds, released February 1983.

*Here Comes Trouble by Broderick Smith. From the 1984 self titled solo album by Broderick Smith. It’s also sometimes listed as from The Broderick Smith Band…so I’m not quite sure what is the most appropriate band/artist.

*At the Hop by Blue Echoes. 1981 cover from their second album, the title track in fact.

*Girl in the Sweater by The Hard-Ons. Their 1986 debut single, not featured on a studio album. They sre a punk band from Sydney, active in the early 80s till 1994 and then from 1997 till today. Can’t believe I’ve missed them, they are prolific!

Nobody (Blue Mix) by Tongue ‘n Cheek. Request.

*Rain by Dragon. Request.

+Gimme Gimme Gimme by Erasure. In 1986, Erasure, released it as the B-side to their 12″ single “Oh L’amour”, gave the song an even greater camp appeal, as gay male singer Andy Bell didn’t change a word. Such was its success – and the band’s appeal to gay audiences – that Erasure would go on to record a further EP of ABBA songs – Abbaesque.

3-D Dance by Trans X. First track on Living on Video, their 1981 debut album.

Mia Bocca by Jill Jones. Her debut solo single from 1987 after having spent the early part of the decade backing up Prince and Teena Marie.

Easy Street by David Lee Roth. The third single release from his debut solo EP, Crazy from the Heat. Both came out in 1985.

A Million Miles Away by The Plimsouls. 1983 single from the Valley Girl soundtrack, which allowed it to become a bit of an indie hit. It was also on their second album, Everywhere at Once, also from 1983. They formed in California in 1978 around members Peter Case, Dave Pahoa and Louie Ramírez.
