Playlists

Show 275

Love is a Shield by Camouflage. W German 80s synth pop band…I really liked them back in the day! This is from 1989. And for some reason when I pushed this button last week I wound up with some random song from 2015…I’m so sorry!!

+I want your Sex (monogamy mix) by George Michael. Request.

+We Don’t have to by Jermaine Stewart. Request. He died of HIV/Aids…and had sung back up for Culture Club before his solo career.

I’m So Proud by Brown Sugar. Request.

Brown Sugar by D’Angelo. Request.

Cheap Sunglasses by ZZ Top. From their 6th studio album, Deguello, released in 1979.

+S.O.S. by The Breeders.  From 1993’s Last Splash.  The song has been used bythe English electronic music band The Prodigy in their 1996 hit single “Firestarter”. Lesbian Josephine Wiggs.

Your Love by The Outfield. 1986 single from their 1985 debut album, Play Deep. They were from Manchester in the UK but never made it big there…despite their huge popularity in the US.

Aussies from 1988

*Under the Milky Way by The Church:  1988 hit from a band that actually formed in Canberra!  This one charted in the US after having been dropped by their US label for a flop earlier.

*The Mercy Seat by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds:  from their 1988 album, Tender Prey.  I didn’t much know Nick Cave till I moved here but this song got quite a bit of play in the US and this version comes from a US compilation album.

+*Song for Jacqueline by Judy Small. First recorded in 1988 for her album, Home Front.

+*Secret World by Sea Stories. The title track to their 1988 EP. Featuring lesbian drummer Robi Clark, who will be joining me in the studio next month to discuss one of her current projects.

*Better be Home Soon by Crowded House.  From the 1988 album, Temple of Low men.

*Kiss ‘n’ Tell by Chantoozies.  The band’s fourth single, it was released in August 1988 and peaked at #25 in October. Saw them play last month and they were awesome! Totally blew Bananarama off the stage with their energy!  Loved ‘em!!

The Sensual World by Kate Bush. Request.

+Sometimes by Erasure.  Oct 1986, their 4th single release.  Erasure’s first bonafide hit, peaking at number one in South Africa, number two on the UK Singles Chart and in Germany, and becoming a huge international hit…though peaked at only 50 here after their earlier material only did well here.

Money for nothing, Chicks for Free by Dire Straits. Single from their 1985 album, Brothers in Arms. It was Huge in the US…

+There’s More to Love by Communards:  1988 release by Jimmy Somerville and the band.  I got to see him at Brighton Pride in 2001 – still did an amazing show!

Workin’ for a Livin’ by Huey Lewis and the News. 1982 single from Picture This, their second album.
