Gimme the Love by Kinky Go. 1986 single, also known as Dame el Amor…Italo disco.

Boogie Down by Al Jarreau. Request.

+Blue Jean by David Bowie. From his sixteenth studio album Tonight. One of only two tracks on the album to be written entirely by Bowie, it was released in 1984 as a single ahead of the album and charted within the Top 10 in the UK and the United States.

+Bad Ralph by Van Gogh’s Daughter. From Shove, their only album I think. Lesbian band (half of them, according to The Advocate) from SF.

+2541 by Grant Hart. Bisexual muso from Husker Du. 1988 solo single release.

New Position by Prince. Request.

Let it be Me by Audrey Wheeler. Request.

Heart of Gold by Bert Robinson. Request.

+Guilty by Tret Fure. From Edges of the Heart, her second album.

Aussies: songs with food items in the title…

*Guns and Butter by Do Re Mi.  1986 single and follow up to their biggest hit Man Overboard.  Also appeared on 1987 album Adultery.  The band featured Deborah Conway.

*Onion Skin by Boom Crash Opera. First track on 1989’s These Here Are Crazy Times.

*Baked Beans by Mother Goose. From their 1977 debut album, Stuffed.  Originally the boys were from Dunedin, NZ but moved here to make it big, including recording this album.  They were HUGE in the seventies and such bands as Cold Chisel, Men at Work, The Angels and Midnight Oil all started by opening for Mother Goose.  Later they moved to LA and then NY but returned to Oz to tour with their next albums.  I’m counting them as Aussie cuz they lived here when this single was recorded and released…

*Wedding Cake Island by Midnight Oil.  Wedding Cake Island is an island off Coogee Beach, Sydney, which protects the beach from most swells. The most probable source of the name is the shape of the island – it resembles a wedding cake. Another theory is that bird droppings on the island gave the appearance of icing on a cake. Midnight Oil lead singer, Peter Garrett was a local resident in 1975 when they first released the track; it was also re-released in 1980 on the EP Bird Noises.

*Chocolate Cake by Crowded House. First track on Woodface, their third studio album, released in 1991. It was also the lead single, though Only Natural did much, much better when it came out slightly later.

*You’re my Little Piece of Toast by Hans Poulsen.  Danish-Australian who is super hard to find info on!!  Dates for his later albums are kept a mystery and even track listings don’t seem to match info on youtube clips.  This is from one of his children’s albums that definitely came out after 1977 so I’m feeling ok about it.

Lucky Tonight by Sarah Dash. 1986 12” solo single. African American woman who has worked with a huge variety of bands and artists, from The Stones to Sylvester; she was a founding member of Patti LaBelle & the Blue Belles.

Give me a Break by Vivien Vee. 1980 single. Her real name is Viviana Andreattini and she is now retired…and Italian.

Disco Project by Pink Project. 1982 single. Italo disco project by Luciano Ninzatti and Stefano Pulga.

Soft Emotion by Azoto. 1982 12” release by this Disco studio assemblage created by Italian Celso Valli.

D.I.X.O. by Brain. 1982, extended mix version. The track was only released in France and Mexico originally but has since been included on a fantastic compilation album out of Germany called Computered Love.
