Party Fears Two by Associates. a Scottish post-punk and New Wave band of the early 1980s. They were known for the operatic voice and theatrical antics of singer Billy Mackenzie, who committed suicide in 1997. This is a 1982 single from their third album, Sulk.

+Viva! Bravo! by Menudo. This is a 1985 single featuring LGBTIQ artist Ricky Martin. He was with the band from 1984-89. I believe this is their TripleX debut…

Doctor on the Radio by Q-Feel. Their 1981 debut single. Q-Feel was a British new wave outfit from the early 80s. They released just 1 studio album and a handful of singles…their only real chart success was Dancing in Heaven.

Divine Emotions by Narada Michael Walton. After producing acts like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston in the mid-1980s, Walden released “Divine Emotions,” in 1988. It was a Top Ten hit in the UK and a number 1 dance chart hit in the US.

*Caesar’s Surrender by The Fauves. (beasts in French). Title track from their May 1995 EP; it also appeared previously on The Young Need Discipline album in 1994.

*Sleepwalker by Soma. (body in Greek). 1994 track from Hollow Earth, their 1994 debut.

*My Kind of Life by Yothu Yindi. (child and mother in Yolngu) 1991 track from their second album, Tribal Voice.

*Ain’t No UFO Gonna Catch my Diesel by Joe Dolce. (sweet in Italian) From his 1981 album, Shaddup You Face, the title track of which is of course his only known hit…if you can call it that.

*Chelsea Kids by La Femme. (woman in French) La Femme signed to Keith Glass’s Missing Link label and issued the single ‘Chelsea Kids/’I Wanna Be Your Man’ in June 1979. The track is a good example of the band’s confident, swaggering glam-infused punk-metal sound. They also scored an appearance on Countdown, (one of the first Punk/ New Wave bands to do so) but because the show’s producers took exception to ‘Chelsea Kids’ lyrics, the band went to air miming to their cover of Lennon/McCartney’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’.

*Accidently Kelly Street by Frente!. (front in Spanish). This is their 1992 debut single as well as a track on their debut album, ‘Marvin The Album’ released in 1993.

Dreams by Quench. First released on a sampler of the “Sirius Music” label in November 1993. Due to its success it was rewarded with a cd release on the same label and was soon thereafter licensed to “Infectious.” This is the radio edit.

Heaven Knows by When in Rome. British new wave act. This is their follow up to their best known single, The Promise. They only released 1 album, a self-titled affair in 1988. Then released a single per year in 1988, 89 and 90. Obviously, this is the 1989 track.

Plastic Dreams by Jaydee. 1993 song recorded by Dutch dance producer Jaydee. It was the artist’s debut single and remains generally considered to be one of the classics of the house music genre.

+I’m a Runnin’ by Rufus Wainwright. He was a kid and it was 1988. Soundtrack from Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller. He is, of course, openly gay.

Just got Paid by Johnny Kemp. Million-selling, Platinum certified 1988 single by Bahamian R&B singer–songwriter Johnny Kemp. The song hit No. 1 on the U.S. R&B and Dance charts and reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song in 1989 but lost out to Anita Baker’s “Giving You the Best That I Got”. He died in April of this year, mysterious circumstances surrounding his drowning near Montego Bay…

Don’t you want me by Felix. Recorded by British DJ and producer Francis Wright, known under the pseudonym of Felix. It was released as his debut single from his album #1 in late 1992.

Knock on Wood by Amii Stewart. This was her first single, a cover of the 1966 Eddie Floyd hit “Knock on Wood.” Hers reached number one in the U.S. in April 1979, and earned her a platinum record and a Grammy Award nomination. It also reached number 6 in the UK, and number 2 here in Australia.
